Project Icarus is a long-term concept for a roguelike dungeon crawler. The project explores hero-centric gameplay inspired by top-down, ability-driven combat systems, paired with progression based on items, augments, and player mastery.
Each run is designed as a climb — pushing higher through increasingly dangerous encounters. Heroes are defined by unique ability kits with strong identity, allowing experimentation through synergistic builds rather than fixed classes.
Planned mechanics include item rarity tiers, transformative augments, high-impact boss encounters, and meaningful trade-offs that reward bold decisions. The focus remains on replayability and emergent gameplay rather than linear progression.
While still in the conceptual phase, Icarus represents an ambition to eventually build a complete, polished indie game. The end goal lies far ahead — potentially one day reaching a player-facing release — but the journey itself is the core motivation.
